The ʻukulele originated in the 19th century as a Hawaiian adaptation of the Portuguesemachete, a small guitar-like instrument, which was introduced to Hawaii by Portuguese immigrants, mainly from Madeira and the Azores. It gained great popularity elsewhere in the United States during the early 20th century and from there spread internationally.
The tone and volume of the instrument vary with size and construction. Ukuleles commonly come in four sizes: soprano, concert, tenor, and baritone

Ukulele strings
If your looking for good quality affordable ukulele strings then I suggest you try Aquila. They have built a solid reputation providing superior quality strings at an affordable price. They have become known as the industry standard and are often mentioned as a selling point when when it comes to stringing your ukuleles. They offer a beautiful soft tone and are long lasting I know because I play the ukulele and trust me I am hard in my strings. So it is important for me to have strings that will last the distance without sacrificing tone quality
Ukulele String winder
To be honest there ais a huge range of options out there and yes I know it’s not that hard to string up your ukulele but having played guitar for over 40 years I quickly learnt the value of having a string winder in my ukulele carry bag. So for me it’s the Dunlop 101 Gel String Winder. They are inexpensive and available I. A few different colours.
Ukulele Tuners
Similar with winders ukulele tuners there’s a lot of choice and price ranges for an entry level $14.95 up to $104.95. I guess it’s just a case of how much you want or are willing to spend. This will also depend upon how experienced a ukulele player you are. The Snark Napoleon Clip-on Tuner N-6 Compact Ukulele Tuner is a good mid entry level tuner and for around $40 you can get a two pack which is handy if your not good at putting things back.
